University of Baltimore, M.A. (2001)
- The UB Pub Design Program is unique in that it combines visual design with writing and communication.
- I took a diverse array of classes including: magazine writing, interactive multimedia, hypermedia production, dynamic web sites, creative nonfiction, writing and graphics, and typography. There was also that class where we got to watch Repo Man. Cool.
- My final seminar project was an online journal of American music, presented in flash and HTML.
Mary Washington College, B.A. (1993)
- I come from a distinguished line of English majors, and so it was inevitable that I would graduate with a degree in English from Mary Washington.
- My senior seminar paper was on Chaucer. I wish I remembered what it was about. My dad can still recite the opening lines of the General Prologue. I cannot.
Georgetown University (1997)
- I worked at Georgetown for a number of years. I took the opportunity to take a class in the English Department.
- The class investigated the then-new world of the WWW and other electronic media.
- My readings in this course led me to investigate the University of Baltimore's program in Publications Design, which I eventually joined.
Northern Virginia Community College (1997)
- I was working as the Webmaster of the Georgetown University English Department, so I figured I'd better learn something about computer graphics.
- These classes were my first introduction to Adobe Illustrator, computer illustration, and Visual Communication.
